For nearly 35 years, I practiced at the intersection of health care, technology, and law — advising health systems, hospitals, and other health care organizations on everything from complex IT transactions and software licensing to HIPAA compliance and data privacy.
Most of that career was spent at Hall Render Killian Heath & Lyman, one of the nation's largest law firms focused exclusively on health care, where I specialized in health information technology, software licensing, health care regulatory compliance, software development, and privacy and security matters.
Along the way, I built something that fundamentally changed how I think about legal work. In the 1990s, I developed Ntracts, a contract management platform designed specifically for health care organizations. I oversaw its growth and operations for more than 30 years, giving me a front-row seat to the full contract lifecycle — and a deep appreciation for where technology can eliminate friction, reduce risk, and free legal teams to focus on higher-value work.
That experience is what led me here. I founded Short Advisors to help corporate legal departments get the most out of Claude Cowork and Anthropic's Legal Plugin — and to build custom plugins tailored to each department's unique workflows.
